Neil, you say you do not care about individual scientists, only in “scientific consensus”. Would you have sided with the scientific consensus of the time against Copernicus? Galileo? Newton? Darwin? Einstein? Would you have sided with geocentrism, a flat earth, space filled with ether, or medical leeching, since, in their time, those were the prevailing consensus views? Would you have opposed evolution by natural selection, or general relativity, since those represented challenges to the consensus views of their time?
After reading the comments to Del’s interview with NDT, I couldn’t bring myself to watch the interview. This confirms my belief that my brothers will NEVER awaken from their slumber. They are both amateur astronomers. It’s confounding. They would never discuss the info my sister and I tried to send them. And if they ever did, they would just parrot what this pathetic so called scientist said.
Yeah, I don't see why this guy keeps getting booked on shows. Personally, I've never liked NDT.. he's arrogant, talks over people, and thinks his sh*t smells sweeter than most. I couldn't even watch his version of Cosmos because of his personality, even though I loved the original as a young man.
I could forgive all of this, though, if he just seemed to *understand the nature of science.* But no, no such luck. He clearly equates "science" with "being right", and thinks of it as a bludgeon to use on anyone he disagrees with. Perhaps with those qualifications he should apply to be the director of the NIAID.
On second thought, I won't bother sending to my brothers. I remembered when I asked one of them (the one with the 149 IQ) about Galileo and his fellow scientists - how they wouldn't look through his telescope. My brother's reply - those weren't scientists. You just can't make this shit up.
They are twins, so they are very like minded. My sister and I are also twins and like minded as well - thank God or I would have gone insane by now.
James - you need to get this article to Del. I wish I had a connection to help make that happen.
I did listen to about the first 10 minutes or so before I had to stop. I felt like he was trying to convince Del’s audience how brilliant he is (he’s not). I wish Del had asked him these questions James. Too bad you didn’t interview him instead.
I’ll never get that 10 minutes of my life back. 😂
I can’t wait to hear what Del says about it this week. I’m sure there was backlash.
Very interesting. My definition of intelligence remains having the ability to consider and to accept that everything one has been taught to belief and everything one does believe may in fact be wrong.
Science as you point out is a study and scientists are students who's role is to critique the design and execution of studies and to prove each other wrong, until they can't.
We certainly do not live in an age where dissent is encouraged, the opposite. I was banned from Twitter for saying that viruses don't exist. Whatever one's views- there is no scientific evidence that viruses exist if you critique the design and execution of studies saying that there are- one should be allowed to say so on social media https://georgiedonny.substack.com/p/seeing-is-believing - which we now know also censured verifiable information on mRNA jab injuries.
Science died in April 1984 (if not many years before that) when HIV was announced as the probable cause of AIDS by a press secretary at a press conference- NO debate was allowed. The alleged scientific consensus on HIV is entirely WRONG https://georgiedonny.substack.com/p/the-importance-of-intellectual-freedom
Very good questions!!! In my latest post, I was writing about "epistemic injustice" which now pervades science, and especially medicine... this is another clear example of this in action!

I’m giving some serious thought to sending this article to my brothers. You, dear James are the brilliant one.
You're too kind, Laura. I feel pretty un-brilliant most of the time.
(You can say so as often as you like, though.😆)

I soooo respect humble people.

The long slow dissolution of science into intellectualized, irrational pudding - along with our brains. Good essay.
Most excellent James!
Clear and concise and echoes
my thoughts. Thank you for your
time and effort sir.

No one is doing science - what they are doing is using scientific words and dazzling lights to sell us medicines and treatments we don't need https://georgiedonny.substack.com/p/how-power-couple-pharma-regulation

"No one is doing science - what they are doing is using scientific words and dazzling lights to sell us medicines and treatments we don't need."
Exactly! Well put!
Thank you James 🐒
I've just noticed some new features- 'restack' is that like a retweet I wonder? and where will it stack to?

Thanks, Gary! I have that post open and ready to read, probably later today...
