Yes, I found Ancient Apocalypse and his appearances on Joe Rogan compelling and I was cheering on him when he was talking about the status quo, and academia. There is another good recent podcast with him and Aubrey Marcus. The guardian does seem to give the game away about why the negative reaction - because they don't want people thinking for themselves. This is a wider issue which seems to pervade all of academia https://garysharpe.substack.com/p/the-ebony-tower
I was headed toward a career in academia at some point, and sometimes I thank my lucky stars I didn't go through with it. My experience as an undergrad was interesting. I took some of my classes in the secular college and some of my classes in St. Mikes, the Catholic college. To my surprise, I found the secular professors to be close-minded, dogmatic, egocentric, condescending, and protective of their academic turf. And the Catholic professors (really, more Jesuit, I think) encouraged critical thinking and questioning and challenging received wisdom. Not what I was expecting! And I'll give you one guess which group of professors had a more lasting impact on me.😏
Interesting background. I had an uncle who was trained as a Jesuit priest but later dropped his vows to teach fine art in Madrid. Us spanish migrants in the UK went to catholic primary schools run by nuns but then blended into the usual secular/anglican higher ed environment. Something I noticed about grads from Jesuit universities -- they always praise the quality of well-rounded education received. Gary's article on excessive specialisation explains the situation well. My nephew at Manchester Uni UK admits that woke indoctrination appears to be the main focus. And for the rest, narrow adherence to dogmatic downloads from textbooks appear to get you through with flying colors. Next stop... some govt think tank job or a cushy position at the UN. Others will become environment comissars telling us how to live with nothing and be happy. Not exactly my idea of money well spent. It's time for alternatives methinks.
"narrow adherence to dogmatic downloads from textbooks appear to get you through with flying colors." Yeah, can confirm this. All my colleagues who mastered the art of mirroring the prof or textbooks did extremely well in their classes and went on to getting papers published, being invited to professor's parties, and teaching assistant positions, and cushy academic careers. Thus the circle of entrenched mediocrity goes on. The challengers and freethinkers are quickly punted aside.
I can only imagine the woke doggerel that one must regurgitate these days to function in such a system. Makes me sick to even think about!
Thanks. That's more or less how I imagined the current situation. It reflects the growing arrogance and narcisism (or creates it) displayed by Lord Fauci when he proclaims to the whole world that "He is the Science" and anyone that questions him is a fool. I certainly wouldn't last very long in that environment, that's for sure!
It's amazing how the liberal mindset continues to ignore reality, adhering only to dogmatic state-run propaganda spewed by their beloved gatekeeping outlets, namely The Guardian, BBC, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times. That doesn't let all the rest of MSM of the hook or the new upstarts in the form of alt-media. They're all in on the mindjob IMHO. The only thing that's left for rebelious types is our ability to think critically, independently, selfishly even. And of course, those labels will be twisted and turned against us in the ususal ways. Criminals by association with conspiracy theorists and extremists will be the rule of the day. Crackpots will make wilder claims about all kinds of topics and critical thinkers will be lumped in with that crowd. That's why I'm not as optimistic (at least for the time being) as Graham Hancock and others that think the yoof will save us from ourselves! Ha! Is that a joke? All the yoof in my environment fell for the covid scam hook line and sinker and are fully jabbed and compliant with all measures. I fear for their physical health going forward and I know for a fact that their critical thinking abilities are not up to snuff, especially the more left leaning / liberal types.
I know. It was (and still is) heartbreaking to see young people rolling around with their symbols of compliance diapering their faces, and bragging about their vax status on social media profiles. In my youth we moshed and screamed along with Rage Against the Machine: "Fuck You, I Won't Do What You Tell Me!!" Where has the rebellious spirit of youth gone? You're probably right, they just haven't had the critical thinking training that we got in our day. That, or it's been discouraged/punished/trained out of them.
"That, or it's been discouraged/punished/trained out of them." I imagine that's what's happening. I don't have kids myself so I can only comment on how my nephews and others responded to authoritarian measures. Essentially, they would jump through hoops to comply with work, university and travel requirements. The liberal/marxist indoctrination is strong with that generation and no, they don't know what a mosh pit is! But I can't speak for family environments with more conservative political values. I can see the clear divide in the US but not so much here. There was very little rebelious spirit or pushback in Spain as a whole. The unjabbed are few and far between and we haven't exactly been "rewarded" for our stance. We're outsiders. And the jabbed haven't been "punsihed" for their reckless behavior.
It's part of the WEF's = New World Order - 'Control', 'Depopulation by vax' and 'Slavery' program.
'LIABILITY' for Big Pharma is Common Sense - otherwise, it's plainly used as a 'LICENCE to KILL' by injection (called "Covid Vaccine") to achieve the WEF's 'New World Order' depopulation objectives.

Thanks for the link, Gary. Will check it out. And that podcast, is this the one? https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mapping-the-spirit-and-our-ancient-history-w/id521945322?i=1000590186132
