I dismissed the Climate Change Hoax in 2013 when hordes of university brainwashed part-time and very young 'activists' arrived at our Anti-Fracking Camp in Balcombe with the sole intention of directing our objections to fracking onto claims that CO2 was a toxic gas. Such unmitigated piffle but they were adamant. We guessed that they had forgotten about photosynthesis and the basic biology of plant life.
Those of us who had actually established the camp knew that the reasons to object to fracking centred around local pollution, radioactivity of drilling rigs, excessive use of water resources and industrialisation of our green spaces.
Nevertheless, the Climate Activists were promoted and funded until they achieved national notoriety as Extinction Rebellion alongside their icon Greta Thunberg. All this despite endless debunking of the models and claims - hockey stick graph being the worst deliberate deception.

Hi James, thank you very much for the post! I must say that the past 3+ years have been extremely disorienting for me on so many fronts. But, if I had to boil it down to one sentence...COVID (or more precisely, Covidians) killed my belief in the mainstream scientific community. I simply can't unsee the manipulation and sheer evil of the last 3 years. Your post brilliantly exposes the various ways in which science has been bastardized to create a climate crisis narrative. More than anything, I've been suffering an identity crisis, as I've devoted the last 15 years as a diligent worker in the climate industrial complex. As challenging as it is to walk away, I know in my heart that I simply can't be a part of this anymore. I'm incredibly grateful to you and the many other critical thinkers from Substack, Twitter, etc. that have given me a beautiful red pill gift and helped me find the courage to leave the Church of Climate Crisis.

For all these years, I've worked for a non-profit research organization in the transportation sector. Nearly all of our funding is tied to helping governments create policies to reduce GHGs. These days, that pretty much means electric vehicles: everything, everywhere, all at once. The point you made about funding is HUGE, in my opinion. It's increasingly difficult to point out well-known barriers for EVs such as high costs, lack of charging, flattening consumer demand, etc. In my organization and the larger enviro community, I started to recognize the same mental programming as during the height of Covid: lack of critical thinking, how asking simple questions can get you ex-communicated, refusal to acknowledge realities that don't fit the narrative, etc. etc. I guess I just can't unsee the Covid and climate parallels...and that's why I've decided it's time for me to move on to something totally different.
Some virtue-signalling governments are pursuing "Net-Zero" through the adoption of expensive electric garbage trucks. We are getting at least one here in Cowichan. A great benefit for councillors is that they are able to signal personal virtue using other people's money!
If EV's made economic sense we would be seeing electric buses everywhere and would not need subsidies for Tesla and Ford F150 Lightnings. The rail mainlines would be electrified as a notable environmental benefit, maybe even with nuclear electric plants attached to the wires, but I haven't seen this in North America.
We are (have declared ourselves) immune from this system in B.C., because, earthquakes, which might actually be a reasonable consideration here on the coast where there is a "Big One" every few centuries. (On the other hand most of our hydro is gridded in from the stable interior of the province.)I haven't looked hard at the engineering of Diablo Canyon in California but would not be amazed if there is a reasonable apprehension of risk there.
